My name is Jesse Cochran, and I’ve been creating audio samples for around five years now. What first got me into this world is a bit of an unusual story—one that, oddly enough, started with a leak. As a longtime fan of Slipknot, I stumbled across a leak on YouTube/Google Drive that included a ZIP file filled with samples reportedly used in some of their tracks. While the leak itself was unfortunate, it lit a creative spark in me. I became fascinated by the idea of crafting and manipulating sounds to build an atmosphere or drive a rhythm, and I thought—why not try making my own?
At the time, I was the lead vocalist for a metal band, and I initially started producing samples to use in our songs. It was an exciting way to inject new energy into our sound and bring a personal touch to our recordings. Even though my band is currently on an extended hiatus, I’ve never stopped creating. What began as a practical step for our music turned into a full-blown passion and artistic outlet.
As I developed more samples, I started looking for a way to share them with others and give back to the audio community that has inspired me so much. That’s when I discovered Freesound. I loved the idea of releasing my work under a Creative Commons Attribution license so that others could use, remix, and build upon my samples—just as I had been inspired by others.
My early contributions were heavily influenced by the Paulstretch algorithm, resulting in ambient, time-warped textures that I liked to call “Paulstretch masterpieces.” Over time, though, I began exploring a wider range of styles and sounds, from distorted industrial effects to cinematic atmospheres and beyond.
I’m always experimenting, always learning, and always listening. I hope that my samples can spark creativity in your own projects, whether you're making music, designing sound for film or games, or just exploring the world of sound.
If you feel like you like the sounds that I make, and also if you can afford it, you can tip me ERC-20 cryptocurrency tokens to my following address:
